Water is a recurring theme within Penelopiad. Draped fabric can look like flowing water or the mountains of Ithaca, Penelope’s home. With the help of lighting, this set easily shifts between locations while still representing the powerful female spirit of Penelope. Fabric was also used for the shroud weaving and the hanging of the maids was accomplished with aerial silks that dropped from above. Images were projected onto the fabric for key moments within the play.
